Phil Sawyer started his musical career as lead guitarist and lead singer in various bands including Fleur de Lys and Shotgun Express (which became Fleetwood Mac). He joined the Spencer Davis Group when he was 18 to replace Stevie Winwood, toured with them and wrote numerous songs.

In 1970, he left the band to concentrate on classical music. He studied composition, harmony and orchestration at Guildhall with James Stobbard.

After this, Phil worked as a songwriter and producer with various artists including Florie Palmer and Sandie Shaw. He started to write music for TV and Radio commercials, corporate films and documentaries such as 'The Other Bomb', 'Chain of Tears', 'The Fuhre' and 'Oil Fires'. He also wrote the music for a number of feature films including 'The Sleepwalker' and 'The Enchanted'. Phil also wrote the incidental music for 'Twenty One' and the end title music for 'Tarzan and Jane'.

He created the band Beautiful World that was signed by WEA following the success of two songs written for Timotei commercials. His album 'In Existence' was sold internationally.

Phil received the 'Best Original Music Award' at the British Television Craft Awards in 1995 and 1996.

Phil has recently finished scoring an Anglo/French film "The Wooden Camera".
