Multi-instrumentalist
Kamal has been on the New Age scene for more than a decade. His music is both
dynamic and soothing, celebrative and reflective. 'Reiki' is quiet and
meditative. It creates an atmosphere of relaxation and healing.
Kamal started out as a classical guitarist, studying at the Robert Schuman
Conservatory of Music in Germany. Classical music held its limitations and Kamal
took up bass and played in jazz and rock bands. In 1984 he discovered
synthesizers and sequencers and found he could develop complex instrumentations
and arrangements using this new technology. His first album 'Silhouette' was an
instant New Age classic. The music that followed can be divided in two broad
styles. One is ranging from slow instrumental ballads to more lively moods and
world music. The other, reflective style has become well known with healers and
therapists.
One critic reviewing Kamal's music put it like this: "This is a gentle way of
escape, as Kamal insinuates us into his 'Enchanted Worlds' where nothing is
threatened, and sound becomes an older world, before man screwed up the lot."
Kamal has catalogue-sales of 300,000 to his credit and last year won Australia's
coveted 'Dolphin Award' for excellence in music. He also won the American NAV
Music Award. Kamal lives on the east coast of Australia where he works from his
recording-studio.
